[Metakit] Mysterious view.append() error

I have a Python/Metakit script that reads files in a UMLS release subset
and basically just imports the text records into Metakit tables. I've
used it before with no problems.

Running it on a different UMLS subset, it creates a couple of tables, but
in processing one table I get the error: "SystemError: error return
without exception set" and a traceback from my call to view.append()
(where 'view' is the current view being constructed). At that point the
length of the view is 4369408. So I'm wondering if some limit has been
hit.

Any ideas? Any way to check what is happening?
