Okay. I got confused when I did this:
 $ cd bin
/tmp/ActiveTcl8.5.0.0b3.121397-solaris-sparc/bin
$ ls
tclsh     tclsh8.5  tkcon     wish      wish8.5
$ ./tclsh
% info patchlevel
8.5a3
