Linux and Unix isn't as regimented as Windows, so there are not
single approaches to doing things. So no, there is no guaranteed
method of detecting the browser which one has selected.
Now certain desktop environments might have methods to detect such
things, but each desktop does things differently.
You _could_, however, just require the Unix/Linux user set an environment
variable, and if that variable isn't set, default to mozilla.
